The Lake Simcoe watershed is home to over 400,000 full time residents with tens of thousands more enjoying it seasonally. Sweeping more than 3,400 square kilometres, across twenty municipal borders, the Lake Simcoe Watershed is a source of drinking water for many municipalities. It assimilates waste from water pollution control plants, supports local business and agricultural sectors, and plays host to recreational activities with a total annual economic impact of more than $200 million.
It is estimated that by 2031 the population of our watershed will be over 1 million residents; placing further demands on life-sustaining forests, streams and rivers.
